One Thousand Values
A Craftlab Community Project

A community is based on shared values, not a shared zip code. One Thousand Values is a community portrait of what we stand for right now.

Our communal understanding of shared values is eroding as public life becomes increasingly chaotic and volatile. Communities carry more fear, grief, frustration, and exhaustion. And people need safe spaces where they can come together, reflect, and process the events around them.

One Thousand Values is a community art project that invites anyone to share what they value about their community through a 4” x 4” artwork. Starting Wednesday, January 28, 2026, participants are invited to Craftlab Westboro to create a personal piece that reflects what they hope for, want to protect, and want to see grow in their community right now. Craftlab will provide 1,000 canvases and studio materials for painting, writing, sewing, and mixed media, free of charge to any adult (18+) who wants to participate.

No art experience is required. Participants can sign their work or leave it anonymous. Each piece will be dated and stay at Craftlab until all 1,000 works have been created.

When complete, the works will be mounted together as a single installation to form a portrait of what our community values in this historic moment. The installation functions as a visible sign of presence, care, and reflection for those who made a piece and those who view it.

To participate in One Thousand Values, drop in during Craftlab’s open studio hours: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 to 8:00 pm, and Fridays through Sundays, 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Craftlab Westboro is located at 3 Summer Street, Westborough, MA.

One Thousand Values asks a simple question:
What do we value in our community today?

This project creates a space to answer that question, together.

One Thousand Values is presented by Lián Amaris, interdisciplinary artist and owner of Craftlab Westboro.
